The best way to describe where we're at right now, seasonally? False fall. Early September doesn't always bring the crisp air so perfectly paired with the idea of new school years, shorter days and soup simmering on the stove. But when it does - like this particular year - the anticipation for cozy season goes into overdrive.
I urge you to pause. Because you might just miss the best season of all -- the in-between.
This little pocket of time, where we're mentally in fall, but the weather doesn't quite match up, can be the best, most fun time to get dressed. Sweaters on top, shorts on bottom. Close-toed shoes with sleeveless dresses. Boots with mini dresses. Plaid patterns popping. Adding textures, but not weight.
How To Style For The Shift
Live it up, I say! Take advantage. We have a few weeks at most, if we're lucky. There are numerous tips on how to begin styling your transitional outfits. But it might be helpful to simply sum it up in one phrase - begin adding on. While summer has us shed a lot of the unnecessary for sake of sweat, now is the time to think "what can I add", "how can I cover". Accessories, textures, layers, patterns - from the bottom up.
The shop is currently full of perfectly transitional items to help pull off these type of looks. Season-spanning options to wear now into the cooler weeks with ease. Here are some ways you can take these wardrobe basics from now to later.
Alle Dress
Our Alle Dress is one I've personally worn & loved lately. A longer length is seasonally appropriate while having a light, airy feel for the warm sunshine on fall afternoons. The cinched waist adds texture and makes a rather unassuming silhouette more interesting & flattering. Easily transition it from summer to fall by adding a unique pair of ballet flats and tying our Kanna Sweater over your shoulders. You can even pull it on if needed!
Moro Skort
There's one piece I think gets often overlooked for early fall styling - the skort. Guilty, myself! But our Moro Skort, with its muted animal print, is a perfect bottom option for those cool morning to warm afternoon days. Simply swap a graphic tee (our Friluftsliv Tee shown here) for a sweater and sneakers. Funnel neck outerwear will be having a moment this season, so our Caith Sweater would be a trendy, comfortable & warm option. Layer a simple tank underneath in case you need to shed a layer.
Nitti Skirt
Another fall trend for 2025? Color. Unexpected color. In my opinion, this has been, and will continue to be, a slow build. By next year, we'll be seeing a more maximalist approach to styling, including more and more patterns & colors. Gone are the all-beige days! But for neutral-preferring girlies, we can take this in stride. Start by adding a couple pieces in eye-catching shades to your neutral palette - the whole point of stocking our Nitti Skirt. She's a chartreuse beauty with a 90s vibe that can truly span the seasons. Worn beautifully now with our easy Henne Top and flip flops, it will look equally stunning with our Neinn Sweater & sock boots.
